Cold Temperature Vinyl Options

Freezing temperatures can cause standard clear vinyl to stiffen, crack, or break at the edges. If your document holders are used in outdoor winter environments, refrigerated trailers, food storage coolers, or sub-zero job sites, choosing cold-rated material is important.

What Does Cold-Rated Vinyl Do?

Cold-rated clear vinyl is formulated to remain flexible at low temperatures. Our 8 GA clear vinyl material is rated down to -10°F to -20°F cold crack resistance, meaning it helps resist brittleness and cracking in freezing conditions.

Maintaining flexibility helps reduce cracking around stitched seams, eyelets, welded edges, and hang points — areas that take the most stress during handling.

Sewn and Heat-Welded Options Available

Cold-temperature material can be used in both sewn (stitched edge) and heat seal (welded edge) construction styles. This cold-rated material upgrade applies to the vinyl itself — not just one specific product size.

  • Sewn job ticket holders
  • Outdoor maintenance checklists
  • Refrigerated LTL trailer paperwork sleeves
  • Food cooler inventory tags
  • Waterproof press-lock tag holders
  • Custom document sizes

When Should You Consider Cold-Rated Vinyl?

  • Outdoor winter construction sites
  • Refrigerated warehouses and food distribution centers
  • Fleet operations in northern climates
  • Cold storage facilities
  • Outdoor equipment maintenance in freezing weather
  • Camping, marine, and seasonal outdoor applications

If your current holders are cracking at the corners, splitting near eyelets, or becoming brittle in winter, cold-rated vinyl can significantly extend the life of your holders.

Standard and Custom Availability

We offer standard catalog products made with cold-rated vinyl, and we can apply this material upgrade to most of our sewn and heat-welded product lines.
